Richard Lannowe Hall’s 'The Mount' is St Michael's Mount in Mounts Bay just off Marazion and close to Penzance and Newlyn.  It's some distance from the artist so likely painted from either Penzance or travelling east along the coast away from Marazion.  The artist depicts the island looking rather vulnerable beneath the enormity of the banks of cloud, but with a 'hand of God' beam of sunlight caressing it.
